Missions
The Mission Commission sponsors many projects in the community, the country, and in the world.
ROSA'S KIDS The alliance for the Care of Abused Children (ACAC) is an interfaith ministry which links religious congregations with professional social workers in order to meet the needs of children suffering the effects of child abuse, neglect and severe poverty. Through our social worker, we have a direct impact on Rosa's Kids. By donating time, money, and goods, our congregation is able to make a real difference in a "forgotten" child's life.
BURBANK TEMPORARY AID CENTER (BTAC) The Burbank Temporary Aid Center serves the less fortunate of Burbank on a temporary basis. It offers assistance to those who find themselves with an urgent need for food, clothing, or shelter. The first Sunday of every month, our congregation collects food items to donate to BTAC. www.burbanktemporaryaidcenter.org/
FAMILY PROMISE After a year of serving as a support congregation in the Family Promise Program of East San Fernando Valley, BFUMC has been selected as a Host Congregation for 2012. As a vital part of a growing network of congregations of all faith traditions, we will be providing a place to sleep, dinner, and compassionate hospitality for homeless families for one week at a time about four times per year. http://www.familypromiseesfv.org/

SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS Periodically during the year we send personal items, books, cookies, snacks and games to our troops overseas. We want the troops to know that we support and remember them at home. We also collect cell phones that are recycled. The proceeds are then converted into phone cards which are sent to the troops to help them remain in touch with family and friends.
ROSA'S KIDS The alliance for the Care of Abused Children (ACAC) is an interfaith ministry which links religious congregations with professional social workers in order to meet the needs of children suffering the effects of abuse, neglect and severe poverty. In 2002 BFUMC teamed with Social Worker, Rosa Gomez from the Department of Family and Child Services for the Los Angeles region to support this mission. Through the years this program has grown to touch the lives of 50 children and youth in the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. When school starts each year, we ask for donations to supply these children and youth with school supplies that they otherwise would not have the means to receive. At Christmas, our congregants buy presents for the individuals in this group and we present these wrapped gifts with love and a prayer to each of the children we sponsor.
